A few things about the field trip to DC
- METRO now takes credit cards for purchase of fare cards and SmarTrip cards (I guess I didn't need to raid the kids' piggy banks after all)
- SmarTrip cards are needed to exit the Public parking garage (Very limited meter parking if you happen to have a roll of quarters handy)
- DC summers are hazy, hot, and humid (August is probably the worst possible time to be galavanting about town. However, on the plus side, you're not going to have a problem finding a empty park bench on The Mall)
- Smithsonian food is expensive (I am not buying a 10 dollar salad from a outdoor food cart)
- Museum Air Conditioning is wonderful!
Concerning the campaign
- I was surprised no one asked me about my T-shirt. Only one person didn't want to stop to take a photo for us and that could have been for any number of reasons. Otherwise, everyone was extremely friendly and helpful. I thought for sure I'd at least get a knowing nod or smile but nothing. Not even when we passed through Dupont Circle.
Getting ready for the trip
- I'm not sure if this is the place to post this because it's just about the kids and me. I guess I can always come back.

So, tell us about the T-shirt (incidentally, how did you explain that one, I'd love to know).
It looks good though - was expecting loads of posts on here after that but still quiet...
The only person I had to explain it to was The Warden (seriously, no one else asked). Can't you just imagine the conversation? My friends lesbianburrito and gaythelogian are running for office...
I can (sort of) imagine the conversation and it makes me a bit sad that it's a conversation that I will never have...
What was his response to that?
Thanks for writing this.
