Yesterday's field trip

A few things about the field trip to DC
  • METRO now takes credit cards for purchase of fare cards and SmarTrip cards (I guess I didn't need to raid the kids' piggy banks after all)
  • SmarTrip cards are needed to exit the Public parking garage (Very limited meter parking if you happen to have a roll of quarters handy)
  • DC summers are hazy, hot, and humid (August is probably the worst possible time to be galavanting about town. However, on the plus side, you're not going to have a problem finding a empty park bench on The Mall)
  • Smithsonian food is expensive (I am not buying a 10 dollar salad from a outdoor food cart)
  • Museum Air Conditioning is wonderful!
Concerning the campaign
  • I was surprised no one asked me about my T-shirt. Only one person didn't want to stop to take a photo for us and that could have been for any number of reasons. Otherwise, everyone was extremely friendly and helpful. I thought for sure I'd at least get a knowing nod or smile but nothing. Not even when we passed through Dupont Circle.
Getting ready for the trip
  • I'm not sure if this is the place to post this because it's just about the kids and me. I guess I can always come back.

Too quiet on here

Don't you all think it's too quiet at the moment? We need to get active and make this place a bit more welcoming for all those visitors (there are some - surely?) who come here but decide to leave without leaving a comment.
If you are reading this, please don't be shy - speak up, we're a friendly bunch most of the time.
Anyone?
Please.
love cow
We don't bite, honestly (unless you're a burrito, then we just might...)

Banner? Anybody?

Oooh... brand new shiny banner... what'cha think?
Will be looking into fixing the site a bit within the next few days.

Czech it out!

Hello all!
Not much time to talk but Prague is hot, hot, hot!
Will be providing photos at some point and am continuing the campaign over here - not much response (none) yet but early days!
Take care all, hope you've not forgotten me...
xx

delinquent

Hey everyone. Swim team is almost over for the kids then I'll be able to devote more time to the campaign. Of course, the little one is teething, and I'm a bit sleep deprived these days. Next week I'm planning something but I want to see how it turns out before I reveal it. It seems like a good idea right now, but like I said, I haven't had much sleep. Stay tuned.

P.S. My daughter's favorite burrito is rotisserie chicken chunks tossed with crisp romaine & radicchio salad drizzled with light ranch dressing wrapped in a warm tortilla. Yum.

free day!

the "free day" is a very effective weight-loss concept; it simply means that one day out of the week (usually sunday), one is supposed to not work out and eat whatever one wants for a whole day. the free day is supposed to trick your body into thinking it's not starving on a new diet and also to give you motivation to not cheat during the week.

why am i posting this on the campaign blog? because today i had a fucking awesome bean burrito and cheesy fiesta potatoes from taco bell. (hey les, does taco bell use animal fat in their beans? wait, don't tell me...i've been totally meat-free since the "bunny incident"...hate to have ruined it now...at least it was a BURRITO though!)

hope everyone has had a good weekend...today is budget day, so tonight and tomorrow are "create a donation site" days. i know i keep talking about it, but i've almost been afraid to post anything yet because if i cannot make the money happen, i'm in a HUGE mess!!! anyway, look out for an announcement on virb/facebook/myspace/twitter/gmail/pownce/burrito gods blog in the next couple days!
